Collingwood, the reigning premier, already has one eye on winning back-to-back championships in 2024, but beloved defender Trey Ruscoe won’t be a Magpie.
After just 18 games throughout the course of his four years with the team, the 21-year-old has been notified that his contract will not be renewed.
Wow, what a voyage, wrote Ruscoe in a social media post.

I’ve had the opportunity to play at such a fantastic club, and I’ve met some incredible people along the way for whom I am just incredibly grateful.

“The friendships I have formed will last a lifetime, and I will sincerely miss everyone from the club,” the student said.

Everyone has contributed significantly to my professional development, and I am incredibly grateful for the lessons I have learned along the way.

“To the Collingwood supporters, you have been amazing, and I appreciate all of your support throughout the process

His nine-game streak in 2021 marked the career high for the 193 cm utility.

This season, he played in just one game, an Anzac Day matchup with Essendon.

If social media is any indication, the beloved teammate will be sorely missed by his comrades.

Young midfield prodigy Nick Daicos wrote, “My guy.”

‘I love you, bro. Vice-captain Taylor Adams stated, “Heart and soul.”

After switching from Collingwood after the 2022 season, the youthful forward wasted no time in making his imprint on the Geelong front line, scoring 41 goals in his debut season at Kardinia Park.

In 2023, the 21-year-old regularly found the back of the net, tallying at least one goal in 20 of his 22 contests and multiple majors on 14 distinct occasions.

Henry showed versatility throughout the season, jumping high for forward grabs while also occasionally stepping up to play a new role on the wing, showing plenty of his potential.

Henry received 49 votes in the Carji Greeves Medal voting, which is excellent for a player in his debut season at a new club with fewer than 50 games of experience.
