Two members of Michael O’Neill’s backroom crew have been barred from the sidelines.

After a dispute between players and officials earlier this month, Stoke City and Barnsley were fined heavily.

The Football Association fined the Potters £10,000 and the Tykes £8,000.

During the 1-1 Sky Bet Championship match, Stoke coaches Dean Holden and Rory Delap, as well as Reds assistant Joseph Laumann, were sent off after a touchline melee between staff and players.

Tykes coaches Tonda Eckert and Laumann were both fined £2,750 and £2,500, respectively, and banned from the sidelines for three and two games.

Stoke assistant manager Holden and coach Delap have both been banned for one game and fined £2,000 and £1,800, respectively.

Both clubs confessed that they failed to guarantee that their players and club officials acted in an orderly manner and avoided provocative behaviour during the 90th minute of the game.

Ibrahim Afellay, a Stoke midfielder, has had his punishment reduced to two games following his red card against West Brom.
After getting his marching orders on Saturday, the former Barcelona player will miss games against Arsenal and Leicester.
Following his red card against West Brom, Stoke City player Ibrahim Afellay’s punishment has been reduced to two games by the FA.

Afellay was sent off in the first half of the Baggies’ home loss after hitting Craig Gardner in reaction for a foul from the West Brom player.

The Potters challenged the severity of the ban, and the FA agreed to reduce it by one match.

Afellay, a former Barcelona player, will miss Premier League games against Arsenal and Leicester but will play in the Capital One Cup against Fulham.
Charlie Adam was also dismissed for a challenge on Craig Dawson and will miss the next three games.

According to an FA release, “a claim by Stoke City that the standard punishment for Ibrahim Afellay’s red card was excessive has been upheld following an Independent Regulatory Commission hearing.”

“On August 29, 2015, Afellay was sent off for violent conduct against West Bromwich Albion.” His punishment has been reduced from three to two matches, effective immediately.”
