The72’s writers make their prediction for Leicester City against Preston North End before of Tuesday night’s Championship fixture.
Leicester City remain in first place in the Championship standings after a 4-1 victory against Blackburn Rovers over the weekend, with Enzo Maresca’s side already having won eight of their first nine league games.
Preston, however, suffered a four-goal setback at the hands of West Bromwich Albion at Deepdale on Saturday, ending their undefeated start to the season.

Here are some of our writers’ predictions for the game…

“Leicester and Preston have set the standard this season,” says Luke Phelps. However, given both teams’ weekend results, I believe a quality disparity will begin to appear.

“It’s not all bad news for Preston, who are still in a good position.” But a few more negative results will destroy all of their hard work, so Ryan Lowe needs to act quickly.

“However, Leicester are looking too brilliant right now. They’re really starting to click under Maresca, and they might go on to be one of the finest second-tier teams we’ve seen.

“I’ll say narrow Leicester win in this one.”

Prediction for Leicester City vs. Preston North End: 1-0

“It was a tough way to end Preston’s incredible run.” Lowe and company must ensure that the outcome does not depress them too much, since the start to the season has been wonderful for confidence, but a game like that will always come as a shock.

“It’s also not a good result to be receiving ahead of a trip to Leicester City.” The Foxes are on a roll right now, and the Blackburn defeat highlights the gap between them and the rest of the Championship this season.

“I do think Leicester will get the win here, but Preston need to keep spirits high if they’re to keep their spot towards the top end of the division.”
