Officers had already been summoned to allegations of two stabbings in Sundon Park Road earlier that day (Friday) around 4pm.
Two teenagers were injured, one with significant but non-life-threatening injuries, and the other with life-threatening injuries. Both people are receiving hospital care.
In relation to this other offense, one man was detained by police and is being questioned on suspicion of attempted murder.
The murder investigation has been started by the Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire, and Hertfordshire Major Crime Unit, and they are currently examining the two occurrences as connected.
The Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire, and Hertfordshire Major Crime Unit’s Detective Inspector Lee Martin stated: “Appalling violence in Luton claimed the life of a teenage boy yesterday and left two others in potentially fatal situations.
“Incidents like these have a big effect on our citizens. Our first and foremost thoughts are with the boy’s family who lost him in such tragic and terrible circumstances.
“We are doing everything we can to stop any further events, and we want to reassure the general public that officers are looking into every possible lead and stepping up patrols in the neighborhood.
Knife crime and violence have no place in our society, but it is a problem that we must address jointly with our communities in order to change attitudes toward carrying knives and offer alternatives that will help our young people feel safe.
“Both instances took place in crowded places where many people were present. Please get in touch if you saw any of these events happen or if you have any video or photographic evidence.
