Nottingham Forest defender Felipe’s injury status has been updated by Steve Cooper.
Due to an ongoing knee injury, the 34-year-old Brazilian has not played this season, and there is no timetable for his comeback.
Felipe was fantastic for the Reds last season, but his injury problems, along with his age, have made it difficult for the former Atletico Madrid star to recuperate.
During his news conference yesterday, Cooper revealed that Felipe’s injury is a ‘ongoing problem’ that the team is attempting to manage.
Felipe’s fitness, according to Steve Cooper
Cooper addressed the reporters ahead of Sunday’s Premier League match against Brentford that the Brazilian experienced a setback in his development last weekend.
“Felipe has an ongoing issue with his knee, which we’re trying to manage carefully.”
“We’re doing everything we can to support him and give him the best chance of getting back on the team.”
“He missed last week because it [his knee] flared up a bit and like I said it’s a daily management situation with him.”
Felipe is going through a difficult time.
Following such a solid season last season, the Brazilian would have hoped to strike the ground running to assist the Reds improve on their 16th-place finish.
He has, however, had to sit out every game, something no player likes to do.
He’s a fantastic professional with a great mentality, so ideally the 34-year-old will be able to return as soon as possible without exacerbating his knee injury.
