Andrea Parkin, Foundation Trustee and Adams’ sister, remarked, “It was an obvious choice.” “Ads used to get involved off the pitch with charities and good causes, so it’s not surprising to see Jay interacting with some of the young people we support and work with.” He’s a natural, and he’s displaying many of the traits and characteristics that made Adam so popular with fans and supporters.”

Jay is under no obligation to participate in the day-to-day operations of the Foundation. At this point in his career, the Foundation wants him to focus on his football and helping his clubs advance in the leagues.

The Foundation has two goals. First and foremost, to support grassroots football and encourage young people to participate while maintaining a healthy lifestyle. In these trying times, they want to help kids learn the basics so they can play the game Adam loved so much.

Second, we want to promote awareness of bowel cancer, both individually and in collaboration with other organisations, so that everyone is aware of the symptoms.

Since the Foundation’s creation in 2010, following Adam’s death, an astonishing £400,000 has been raised thanks to some wonderful supporters undertaking outlandish and challenging feats. The generosity and goodwill have been amazing, showing Adams’ popularity among Yeovil, Hereford, and Devon supporters. They have reached over 50,000 young people in football clubs, secondary schools, and primary schools across the three counties as a Foundation.

Manager Gary Caldwell has already spoken about essential principles to which he, his coaching staff, and the Exeter City players aspire, and his assistant, Kevin Nicholson, has spoken about another before of today’s League One meeting with Northampton Town at St James Park: It all comes down to the team.

The days of having a starting XI and replacements and players being dropped to the bench are long gone. Now, City is all about starts and finishes, with Nicholson emphasising the significance of football at SJP as a team sport.
