When the draw for the fourth round of the Carabao Cup was made, Manchester United joined Chelsea, Liverpool, and Arsenal among other teams.
The Carabao Cup fourth round draw has been conducted, and some interesting ties have been thrown up.
This week’s ties were won by Manchester United, Chelsea, Liverpool, and Arsenal, allowing them to add their names to the hat. Newcastle eliminated Manchester City from the tournament after defeating them 1-0 at St. James’ Park.
Premier League underachievers Luton Town lost 1-0 late against League One’s Exeter City in the round’s biggest shock. Following their 3-2 victory over Peterborough, they and Port Vale are the only third-tier teams still in the competition, with League Two’s Mansfield being the lowest-ranked team.
They would have preferred a glamorous match, but Sky Sports’ Don Goodman and Neil Lennon arranged for them to play the Valiants at home. A top-flight opponent was also missed by Exeter, who will now host Middlesbrough.
Four Premier League matches were canceled, including Everton vs. Burnley, the Sean Dyche rivalry between Everton and Liverpool, Liverpool vs. Bournemouth, West Ham vs. Arsenal at the London Stadium, and the Red Devils hosting Newcastle.
