Nottingham Forest news as Steve Cooper’s Reds prepare for a Premier League showdown against the Bees at the City Ground.

Nottingham Forest return to the City Ground this weekend to face Brentford.

Steve Cooper’s team will be anxious to bounce back to winning ways after losing to Manchester City on Saturday and drawing with Burnley the day before. Nonetheless, the Reds have had a promising start to the season.

Cooper was buoyed at the Etihad Stadium by the return of Serge Aurier from injury and Willy Boly from sickness, and he has some difficult selection decisions for Sunday’s encounter. We take a look at Forest’s current injury status.

What we know: The full-back was pulled off after 40 minutes versus City on his debut start for Forest. He appeared to tweak something while running forward, and after trying to continue after receiving treatment, he finally hobbled off.

“I don’t know how he is,” head coach Cooper stated afterwards. “I believe he came off with a groyne injury.” We’ll have to check into him. That’s how it appeared to me, but I’m not sure.”

Hamstring injury is suspected.

What we know: The Brazilian was scheduled to play against Burnley in the Carabao Cup, but he was forced to withdraw due to a hamstring injury. He got a scan before the game against Chelsea and was a doubt for the trip.

The midfielder was given the nod to start against Stamford Bridge, but he only lasted 45 minutes. He pulled up at the conclusion of the first half and left the pitch after receiving treatment. He later withdrew from the Brazil Under-23 squad and did not play on Monday night.

What has been said: “Danilo is going to be out for a few weeks yet,” Cooper remarked ahead to the game.

Felipe suffered a knee injury.

What we know: A knee injury kept the defender from playing in any of the Reds’ preseason games, and he barely trained throughout the summer. He has yet to play for the first team this season, however he has been on the bench against Burnley in the Carabao Cup and against Chelsea. He then played an hour for the Under-21s against Harrogate Town in the EFL Trophy, but has not been named to a match squad since the international break.

What has been said: “Felipe is still dealing with a knee problem.” He’s returning to the group, but it’s something we’re continually dealing with,” Cooper said last week.

“It was a variety of different things, different niggles,” Felipe said last month via a translator. I was diagnosed with kneecap fibrosis, which was impeding my progress. But everything has been regained and fixed.

“I had it last year.” It was the same sensation, just a little more intense. Medication and therapy would suffice.

“I made a lot of sacrifices to get on the pitch, so it was quite delicate at the end of the season.” The choice was taken to have this rest and healing time so that I would have no future concerns.”
