Swindon Town managerody Morris  Jhas stated that the club intends to sign at least one free agency defender to assist disguise their injury issue. Total Sport’s Joe Acklam met with Town’s manager following their 3-0 victory against Harrogate Town.

Ciaran Brennan, who had to come out in first half stoppage time in Saturday’s triumph against the Sulphurites owing to a dislocated shoulder, became Swindon’s fourth injury in the heart of defence and sixth absence overall.

According to Ryan Whelan of The Real EFL, Town are likely to sign Jamaica international Adrian Mariappa, 36, who was released by Burton Albion in January and has been without a club since.

“The medical staff said it was [a dislocated shoulder for Brennan], but I haven’t quite followed up on that yet, but they felt it was popped out on the pitch,” he added.

“So that’s a huge disappointment and a blow for Ciaran [Brennan], but as we’ve seen, it’s one we’ll have to deal with.”

“We are certainly trying [to bring someone in], but there may be obstacles, so we will have to see where we are after today.”

“I’ve already told you that we’re short in that area, and we missed deadline day.”

“We have been striving to improve, but it is not as simple as it may appear to some fans.”

“But we are trying, and fingers crossed we can get something working by next week.”

Morris also mentioned Harrison Minturn, stating that he had the potential to be involved but that he had a long way to go before he could play more consistently.

“It was more of a tactical decision [to leave Minturn out of the squad], maybe he was slightly unlucky not to be on the bench, but I just felt that if a change was needed, tactically it was easier for us to go to a three [at the back] with the other attributes we had on,” he explained.

“He’s a young lad, and we’d rather give players a chance when things are going well and ease them in.”

“He’s doing well, but he, like many of the lads, has a lot to work on in his game.”

“But obviously, he’s one we’re looking at depending on how we’re going to play, and he’s one we might have to consider moving.”
