Next year, Wilfred Ndidi of Leicester City is allegedly a target for Barcelona.
Despite the Foxes’ relegation from the Premier League, the 26-year-old stayed with the team over the summer, and he has been a crucial member of the team this season, appearing on 10 times across all competitions, contributing one assist and scoring three goals.

Ndidi’s contract at the King Power Stadium expires in June of next year, thus he will be free to negotiate a transfer with overseas teams at the beginning of 2024.

Sport claims that Barcelona has long admired the Nigerian international and is closely monitoring his position at Leicester.

According to the article, the Catalan team tried to sign Ndidi “a few years ago,” but they were informed that the midfielder would cost €70 million (£60.7 million).

As it stands, he will be a free agent next summer, and a number of clubs are interested in signing him, including Bayern Munich, Atletico Madrid, and Juventus.

Barcelona is reportedly in charge of negotiations for a player who joined the Foxes from Genk in 2017 and assisted them in winning the FA Cup and Community Shield.

Ndidi has appeared on 247 occasions for Leicester in all competitions, contributing 13 assists in addition to his 14 goals.

Due to the absence of Pedri and Frenkie de Jong from Tuesday’s 2-2 La Liga tie with Mallorca due to injuries, Barcelona is currently lacking senior midfield alternatives.

“We made two significant mistakes that cost us two points. We anticipated having limited opportunities, but we were unable to take advantage of them, said Catalan team manager Xavi to media after the league match.

We must be critical of ourselves. This is the kind of game we have to win. Our team made a careless error that led to Mallorca scoring the second goal.

“We are to blame for the first goal; we recovered to tie the game, but they scored the second goal when we were ahead. We failed to take advantage of numerous opportunities while the score was tied at 1. I recall that Raphinha and Joao [Felix] each had one before they scored the 1-2.

“I believe we outperformed Mallorca, but we must do better. The defense gave us stability the previous year. We made some inexcusable mistakes today.

When Barcelona hosts Sevilla in La Liga on Friday night, they will now be looking to get back to winning ways.
