Dominic Calvert-Lewin slammed the Everton boo boys after scoring in a 3-1 win against Brentford on his return from injury.
Some supporters booed the England striker as he left the game against Aston Villa with a fractured cheekbone at the start of the season.

He did, however, show the Toffees what they had been lacking by coming off the bench to secure their first win of the season.

“Football is a funny old game,” Calvert-Lewin said, according to Sky Sports.

“My own fans booed me off the pitch against Aston Villa.” They encouraged me today. “I’ll savour this and take the rest with a grain of salt.”

After Mathias Jensen cancelled out Abdoulaye Doucoure’s opening before half-time, James Tarkowski headed the Toffees back into the lead.

Calvert-Lewin then scored his first goal since last October, collecting James Garner’s through-ball and slotting it home.

Despite picking up just one point from their first five games, manager Sean Dyche believed that a much improved performance has been on the cards for some time.

“I don’t think it came from anywhere,” he replied. The signals were there, but you had to adjust the tale and take your chances.

“Coming in at 1-1 was a bit of a puzzle, so to come out in the second half and be so calm again was very satisfying.”

“I’m extremely pleased with the entire performance.” My role is to evaluate the performances, whether they win or lose. We deserved more, but you have to force it, which we did today.”We had a fantastic conversation with the players last week and stated that it is up to us to change the tale.

“It’s difficult to play well and not get results.” That’s where you should develop on-field maturity and perform under pressure, and that’s exactly what we accomplished today.”

The Bees, on the other hand, were noticeably off-colour and remain winless at home this season.

“It was a very bad day,” stated boss Thomas Frank. Everton deserved to win since we played poorly.

“We played very well in our first five games, but today was a letdown.”

“It was very unlike this group of fantastic players, but we are good at bouncing back from a bad performance and I expect us to bounce back.”
