Assistant Manager Neil Danns is “proud” of his Tranmere team after they defeated Stockport County 2-0 in the first round of the Cheshire Senior Cup.

Rovers won at Edgeley Park thanks to goals from Harvey Saunders and Rob Apter, who made his debut for the club after arriving on loan from Blackpool.

Danns took charge in place of interim manager Nigel Adkins, who sat in the stands as numerous players vied for a spot in Saturday’s encounter against AFC Wimbledon.
