Leicester City were defeated on the last day of the Premier League season, but Kelechi Iheanacho has set his sights on a return to the top flight.

According to Soccernet.ng, Super Eagles striker Kelechi Iheanacho has set his sights on a return to the English Premier League.
The 27-year-old was looking for a transfer away from King Power Stadium, but nothing came of it, and the Nigerian has shifted his emphasis to Premier League promotion.

Leicester allegedly demanded £18 million for the ex-Manchester City attacker, but talks with Nottingham Forest and Crystal Palace fell through.

In an interview with BBC Radio Leicester, the Super Eagle stated:

“I didn’t get to move and I’m here now playing for Leicester City.”
Going down from the top division isn’t always a pleasant experience for many competitive footballers, and Kelechi described how his relegation experience has motivated him to perform better.

“We went down; it wasn’t ideal, but we’re here now, fighting our way back up.” I’m here focusing on my football with Leicester City, and maybe we’ll get back on track and everyone will be satisfied.”

The FA Cup winner spoke about the intense transfer rumours as well as his contract status, since he has only ten months remaining on his deal with The Foxes.

“When you have less than a year or two left at a football club, there is speculation and rumour that you want to stay and you want to leave and all that.” Personally, I like Leicester City; it’s a nice location with a terrific football team, and I’ve been here for a while.”

Seniorman has scored 57 goals in 215 appearances for the club since transferring to King Power Stadium in 2017, including a penalty against Norwich to start his account in the Championship.

With Leicester revitalised under Enzo Maresca, Iheanacho is optimistic about the club’s chances of promotion. He went on to say:

“We are now at the top of the table; we must hold on and keep going.” Let’s keep the good mood continuing. Hopefully, we’ll conclude on a high note and make it to the Premier League.”

Leicester will face Liverpool in the EFL Cup at the King Power Stadium tomorrow.
