Nottingham Forest player Neco Williams has posted on Instagram, claiming that he has been hurt recently. The Reds defender has missed the previous three selections, which has left some supporters perplexed.

Last season, Williams was a regular in Steve Cooper’s matchday squad. In the summer of 2022, the head coach signed him from Liverpool for £17 million, and he appeared in 36 games across all competitions.

During the international break, the young talent appeared twice for Wales. However, he has been left out of two teams since then, and he also missed the triumph versus Chelsea.

It appears that his current absence is due to injuries. He’s made a wordless Instagram post that appears to indicate he’s not fit.

On Instagram, Forest defender Williams claims to be hurt.
This needs to be confirmed, but it appears like the Wales player has a niggle. He shared a photo of himself in the gym at the training grounds on Instagram, along with two egg timer emojis.

Such posts usually indicate that a player will return shortly. As a result, it’s not quite as easy as Williams has been dropped and will hope to return shortly.

After shaking off his current ailment, the Reds star hopes to muscle his way back into contention. However, following a handful of additions this summer, that will be difficult.

Will Williams be a key player at Forest?
Steve Cooper is a major supporter of Williams, although he has stated that his team needs more athleticism. As a result, it’s difficult to envisage the Wales international retaining his spot in the team.

One advantage he has is that he can play any full-back position for the squad. That may be enough to win him a spot on the bench, but starting may be difficult.

In the summer, Forest signed Gonzalo Montiel, Ola Aina, and Nuno Tavares. As a result, Williams appears to be fourth in line for a spot right now, and he may be fighting for playing time this season.
