Tanner, a young player, joined Cardiff City in the summer of 2022. After spending time in the academy systems of Charlton Athletic, Arsenal, and Bromley, he signed for non-league club Lewes, where he had established himself.

His time with the Bluebirds hasn’t been easy, and following a disappointing loan stint with York City the previous season, it appeared he wouldn’t be in the plans moving into the new season. However, Tanner has drawn attention this season after being given an opportunity by new manager Erol Bulut.

He scored an incredible first goal in the derby victory over Swansea City, etching his name in the annals of the team.

Chief executive Choo has now revealed that negotiations to extend Tanner’s employment are ongoing in an interview with Wales Online. He stated:

“We are negotiating with him in secret, as usual, and hope to come to an agreement.

“He has shown amazing promise in the past few weeks, but there is a long way to go and a long plan ahead of him. But based on what we have already observed, we are content.

Currently, the 21-year-old’s contract runs through the summer of 2013. Although it is rumored that there is an extension option, the club is eager to reward his accomplishments with a new contract.

a fresh face at Cardiff City?
Tanner has only made nine competitive appearances for Cardiff City, but after a significant league-level jump and a sluggish start to life in South Wales, it feels like he may really pick up steam this season.
