Zhang might not be available for the North Londoners’ opening Barclays Women’s Sper Lueague games because she will formally sign with Spurs next month when the Asian Games are over.
Prior to playing for Guangzhou, the 22-year-old forward began her senior career with Beijing BG Phoenix. In 2022, she joined Wuhan Jianghan University’s newest club. Zhang recently experienced her first taste of European club football while on loan with Grasshopper Club Zürich of the AXA Women’s Super League in Switzerland.
In 2022, Zhang made her senior international debut for China. She has received 17 caps, and she has two goals to her credit. The Chinese team that competed in the FIFA Women’s World Cup in Australia and New Zealand in 2023 included Zhang.
Zhang is now Spurs’ fifth acquisition of the summer hiring period. The Lilywhites are believed to be trying to close at least one more transfer before the window closes this evening.
