During Saturday’s 2-0 victory against St Johnstone, the Brazilian forward sustained a horrific face injury.

Rangers spend £6 million on a summer acquisition. Danilo is at home recovering from surgery on a face injury sustained in Saturday’s 2-0 Scottish Premiership win against St Johnstone.

And the Brazilian striker has told fans that he would be back on the pitch in a “few weeks” after receiving some good news about his condition.

Fans had been waiting for Danilo to break through following a difficult start to his Ibrox career, and he was given the chance to do so alongside his attack partner Kemar Roofe at McDiarmid Park.
He only lasted 15 minutes before being taken off with a horrific fractured cheekbone, just seconds after scoring the game’s first goal with a header. After an unintentional mid-air collision involving Saints defender Liam Gordon, both players required extensive treatment from club physios.

Danilo fared the worst, being rushed to hospital immediately and then undergoing surgery to fix the complicated fracture on Monday at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow.

The 24-year-old reassured admirers from his hospital bed that the procedure had gone well by posting a photo of himself raising his two thumbs up on Instagram with the caption: “Surgery (green tick emoji).” It’s now time to relax and recuperate… “I hope to see all of you soon.”

Now, the frontman has hinted that a return to action might be on the horizon much sooner than expected, despite expectations that he would be out for a lengthy amount of time.

In another social media update, Danilo published a photo of himself reclining on his couch with his dog and said, “Back home.” The healing process begins. “I’ll be back on the pitch in a few weeks.”

The news will come as a tremendous relief to Rangers manager Michael Beale, who has a full fixture calendar ahead of him, both domestically and in Europe.
