Nathan Asiimwe may miss Charlton Athletic’s upcoming match, according to manager Michael Appleton.
Charlton Athletic return to play against Wycombe Wanderers at The Valley on Saturday, in their new manager’s first home game.

Asiimwe, 18, missed their most recent away game against Stevenage due to a quad injury. The Addicks drew 1-1, thanks to a late equaliser by Corey Blackett-Taylor.

According to London News Online, Appleton issued this update following the game: “He picked it up (the injury) just before I came into the building.” After a closer examination, they discovered that it was more than simply a strain. I don’t think it’s significant enough to keep him out for too long, maybe another 10 days or two weeks.”

As Appleton mentioned, Asiimwe might be out for another 10 to two weeks, which isn’t ideal. However, James Abankwah provides adequate support in his position for Charlton while he heals.

The adolescent rose through the League One club’s academy systems and was a fixture at different youth levels before getting into the senior squad.

He made his debut at the age of 17 in a Papa John’s Trophy game away at Plymouth Argyle in November last year, and he made his league debut on the last day of the season against Cheltenham Town.

Asiimwe was significantly involved during pre-season and has subsequently had plenty of game time this season, appearing in six games across all competitions.

The prodigy signed his first professional deal with the London club in the summer and has a promising future in the game.

Charlton will not hurry him back in, especially at such a young age, and will treat his present injury cautiously. The Addicks are now 17th in the third-tier standings and will be hoping to find some form under Appleton ahead of their forthcoming games.
