Cedric Anselin, a former Norwich City player, believes Adam Idah deserves to start against Leicester City on Wednesday to bolster his confidence, despite failing to score in the previous two games.
The Canaries have made a strong start to their Championship campaign, sitting fourth with 13 points.
However, American attacker Josh Sargent is now sidelined with an injury and might miss the rest of the season.
Idah, an Irish international, started the previous two league games for Norwich but failed to collect a point on both occasions.
Hwang Ui-jo came on for Idah after an hour in Saturday’s 1-0 triumph over Stoke City.
Anselin, on the other hand, emphasised that Idah must still start Norwich’s next game on Wednesday, since removing him would be detrimental to his confidence.
“I would definitely start Idah on Wednesday,” Anselin told BBC Radio Norfolk, “because if you don’t start him on Wednesday, his head will be down.”
“He is a young lad, and you can see that he works with confidence.”
“It’s all up to the manager, how he speaks to Idah tomorrow, even tonight.”
It remains to be seen if David Wagner will stick with Idah against the high-flying Foxes this week or turn to loan sensation Hwang.
