Regarding his injuries, Todd Cantwell informed Rangers supporters via social media that it’s “not so straightforward”.
The midfielder posted on Instagram on 15 September and pledged to return to the game “as soon as [he] can,” but he also intimated that the injury may be worse than first thought.
Cantwell’s potential absence from up to four Rangers games was confirmed by Michael Beale, making the manager’s task even more challenging as the team enters a crucial week.
Thank you for your messages and your support, Cantwell said. It’s not easy, but for the time being I’ll be with you all as a fan. I’ll be back as soon as I can.
Frustration
Cantwell has been a rare star for Beale’s team so far this season, and the manager may feel anxious now that he will be gone for an extended period of time.
The Englishman has been out for a number of weeks due to an injury sustained in the Old Firm defeat as the Gers face a crucial stage of the season.
The 25-year-old has had a good run of luck with injuries lately; this is his first setback since arriving to Ibrox from Norwich City, but Rangers supporters won’t be concerned about that just now.
Cantwell was evasive over the severity of his injuries, but he seemed willing to cheer on his teammates as he recovers. Even though he was hurt against Celtic, he played the entire 90 minutes, which could have made the injury worse.
Beale will have to rely on backup candidates like John now that Cantwell is out of the running.
