The Birmingham City manager has been mentioned as a possible replacement for the fired Michael Beale.
Birmingham City manager John Eustace has denied reports that he is ready to take over for Michael Beale at Ibrox, saying, “That’s not a job that interests me at all.”
The 43-year-old, who played briefly for Dundee United in the late 1990s, has been linked with a transfer to Rangers in recent weeks as pressure mounts on Beale following devastating defeats to PSV in Eindhoven and Celtic at Ibrox.
However, the former Republic of Ireland assistant manager, who has been in charge of the English Championship team for 14 months, has stated that he would not be interested in the position if the Ibrox side came knocking.
He emphasised that he is a huge supporter of Beale.
“I love my job here at Birmingham City, I’ve been here for 14 months now, I signed a three-year contract to help rebuild this football club and I want to stay as long as I can,” he told the reporters on Thursday.
“I think there has been very good progress in 14 months, and it’s important that we keep building, and I want to be here as long as the club wants me.”
When asked if Rangers should contact him if they are searching for a new manager, he responded, “Definitely not, Rangers already have a fantastic manager, and that’s not a job that interests me at all.”
“I am very proud and honoured to be the manager of Birmingham City, and I want to help grow this football club for as long as I can.”
Beale has come under criticism from some Rangers fans following a dismal start to the season that has left them four points behind Celtic in the Premiership and out of the Champions League.
The Englishman, who worked with Steven Gerrard when Rangers won the title in 2021, took over for Giovanni van Bronckhorst at the conclusion of last season, but was unable to prevent Ange Postecoglou’s Hoops from claiming the domestic triple.
Several players he brought in during the summer have also struggled to get off to a good start, leaving some supporters fearful of another season trailing their local rivals, who are looking for their 13th title in the previous 14 seasons.
Eustace came close to joining Rangers under Mark Warburton in 2015, even training with the club before opting to hang up his boots.
