Fode Ballo-Toure has expressed amazement at being able to complete a move to Fulham so late in the transfer window, stating that he could not turn down the opportunity.

It was generally known from the start of the season that Milan sought to transfer Ballo-Toure because he failed to impress as Theo Hernandez’s deputy when called upon, but despite numerous teams being connected, the situation dragged on until deadline day.

Finally, the 26-year-old Senegal international agreed to a season-long loan with Fulham, which was concluded barely in time before the English transfer market closed.

Ballo-Toure discussed his migration to west London and provided context on what occurred during the summer months, with his words recounted by the London Evening Standard.

“It’s a huge club, a historic club.” It’s been pretty strange. “I didn’t expect it; I thought I’d stay in Milan,” he explained.

“At the last minute, I received a phone call from my agent, who informed me that Fulham was interested in me.” I didn’t think twice. When I said yes, everything occurred pretty quickly.

“You can’t turn down Fulham for me.” I couldn’t say no after seeing how they performed last season. “I’m hoping [Fulham] do better this season than they did last.”

Fulham finished 10th under Marco Silva last season and have plans to finish even higher this season, so it’s a nice move for a player who had fallen out of favour at Milan.
