On Saturday, the quartet might all face Notts County.

Bringing in four new players in the last week of the transfer window has given the MK Dons squad new vitality this week.

Graham Alexander brought in Jack Payne, Joe Tomlinson, Ellis Harrison, and Anthony Stewart ahead of last Friday’s deadline, with Payne and Tomlinson signing in time to play as substitutes against Crewe Alexandra on Saturday.

With no midweek game, the head coach has been putting his new acquisitions through their paces at Woughton this week, but it is not just the quartet who have impressed him since their arrival.

“I believe there has been a different vibe this week with the different competition, which is good, and what we need,” he remarked. “Every elite team thrives on competition, and we aspire to be elite.” We aim to be considered among the best at our level.
