Lewis O’Brien has spoken out following his loan move from Nottingham Forest to Middlesbrough in the Championship.

The 24-year-old midfielder has struggled to make an impact at the City Ground, making only 13 appearances for the Reds before being loaned out in January.

Former Huddersfield Town midfielder O’Brien was due to join Blackburn Rovers on loan, however the deal fell through, with a move to DC United in the MLS being confirmed.

However, upon his return from the United States, the midfielder stated that he is eager to “prove people wrong” this season.

Lewis O’Brien discusses his desire to advance in his career.
Speaking to local Middlesbrough media, the Forest loanee revealed that things haven’t gone as planned in recent years, but he wants to remind people of his quality.

“I’ve always wanted to play football because it’s what I enjoy doing.” It was a no-brainer when the opportunity to join Middlesbrough arose.

“Looking back on my career, I’ve played every game I possibly could, then went to Nottingham and didn’t play as much as I wanted, then obviously the thing in January.”
