FLW’s Birmingham fan commentator has spoken out on Jay Stansfield’s early days at the club.

Jay Stansfield has had an outstanding start to his career with Birmingham City, netting two goals in his first two league games.

While he is currently playing as an offensive midfielder/striker, many believe he has the potential to excel as a central number nine.
Birmingham City fans are pleased to see Stansfield’s potential and believe he may be an important player for the squad if he maintains his current level of performance.

Jay Stansfield moved from Fulham to Birmingham City in the final weeks of the transfer window.

The attacker had been connected with a number of Championship clubs before landing on loan at St. Andrew’s.

Stansfield has been promoted to the first team, making his debut off the bench against Plymouth Argyle.

His goal in the 95th minute gave John Eustace’s side all three points in a 2-1 victory over the Pilgrims.

This earned him a start in the Blues’ following two games, including a 1-1 draw with Millwall, in which his strike levelled the scores and gave the Blues a point.

What do Birmingham City fans think of Jay Stansfield’s debut season?
FLW’s Birmingham Fan analyst Mike Gibbs has lauded Stansfield’s impact on the team thus far.

He has stated that Stansfield is far from finished, therefore he is eager to see how he progresses over the season.

“Absolutely incredible start,” Gibbs said, according to Football League World.

“Two goals in two league games is all you can ask for from an attacking midfielder/striker.”

“I believe we still need to determine his best position.”

“I believe he believes his best position is number 10, but I believe we are in desperate need of a number nine.”

“He can play anywhere along the front line, but I believe we have a good supply of creative attacking midfielders.”

“I could see him playing through the middle instead of Scott Hogan, who is having a rough time right now.”

“I’m really excited to see what he can do when he’s fully fit.”

“He hasn’t been able to get 90 minutes under his belt yet, so I’ll be excited to see him once he’s fully fit.”

“I believe he’ll continue to improve.”

Birmingham have made a strong start to the new Championship season, collecting 11 points from a possible 15.

Eustace’s side enters the September international break with three wins, two draws, and zero defeats to their name, trailing only Preston North End by two points.
