In the New England Patriots’ loss to the New York Giants, Bailey Zappe replaced a struggling Mac Jones for the fourth time this season, raising more concerns about the team’s quarterback situation. Regarding the situation, Zappe has a direct message for Bill Belichick.

Speaking to reporters following Sunday’s 10-7 loss, Zappe indicated that he’d like to start, giving Belichick a promise if he made that decision.

When asked if he would like to start, Zappe responded, “That’s Coach Belichick’s decision.” “If I start, I’m going to try to go out there and win, and I’m going to do everything I can like I have in the past.”

After Jones picked up two interceptions in the first half of Sunday’s game, the Patriots were behind 7-0. Zappe entered the game in the second half. Following reports that both quarterbacks split practice reps and engaged in an in-season quarterback competition, Belichick made the decision to switch quarterbacks at halftime. Prior to Sunday’s game, the Patriots never formally announced a starting lineup.

How Bailey Zappe would like to see the Patriots practice in the event that Bill Belichick starts him
Regarding the quarterback the Patriots will use this week, Belichick remained reticent. However, he refrained from stating that Jones would start, something he did after benching him in the first two games of the season.Given the growing likelihood of Jones being benched in favor of Zappe, Zappe stated he would prefer to see a complete workload of reps to help acclimate himself to the starting lineup.

“Yeah, that’d be great,” Zappe said when asked if he’d like to get full reps in practice if he was named the starter. “But that’s Coach Belichick’s decision. Whatever he decides, if he wants to do — whatever. I’ll do whatever he says.”
