At AMALIE Arena on Monday, Brandon Hagel’s breakaway goal 1:19 into overtime propelled the Lightning to an incredible 5-4 victory over the Bruins.

Tampa Bay had to weather a back-and-forth third period just to get into overtime. Steven Stamkos scored a dramatic game-tying goal with 4.8 seconds left in regulation, forcing the Bolts to overcome two deficits in the final frame.

After defeating Jeremy Swayman to score the second point, Hagel gave the Lightning their first overtime victory of the season.

Boston tied the game at one after a Lightning turnover near the near wall. Brad Marchand promptly sent the puck down low to David Pastrnak after intercepting Mikhail Sergachev’s outlet pass. Rather than firing, Pavel Zacha was given a backdoor pass by Pastrnak, and he managed to get a shot past Jonas Johansson.

The Lightning went back in front on a power play goal in the final minute of the second period. Mikhail Sergachev’s shot from the left point was redirected past Swayman by Nick Paul stationed in front of the net.
