Zabien Brown, an Alabama commit and defensive back from Mater Dei in Santa Ana, California, received his All-American Bowl jersey earlier today.
In addition to running back Nate Frazier and offensive linemen Brandon Baker and Deandre Carter, Brown is one of four Monarchs participating in this year’s game.
He’s a true lock down cover corner and one of the best defensive back prospects in the country. He is currently ranked No. 65 in the 247Sports Composite and No. 45 nationally in the Top247.
When Brown received the invitation to the game, he exclaimed, “I was very excited.” “I was really looking forward to it, and it was a big achievement for me.”
It was an honor for me and a dream of mine from my youth. Being acknowledged in this way meant a lot to me because I play the game with a lot of pride.
There aren’t many athletes who are as competitive as Brown. He said he has something to prove in San Antonio and plays with a lot of edge and swagger.
“This is an opportunity to demonstrate why I believe I’m the best corner in the nation,” Brown remarked. “I’m eager to go out there and compete against the greatest of the best because I love competition.
“I’m interested in seeing what the other national talent has to offer. I’m thrilled to have this opportunity and I think it will be a fun environment.
Brown claimed to have watched the game since middle school and to be aware of the All-American Bowl players from Mater Dei’s history.
“I recall seeing Bru McCoy and Amon-Ra St. Brown,” Brown remarked. There were many excellent players there, including Bryce Young.
“I’ll be there with my guys this year, and I’m sure some Bama commits will be there too. It will undoubtedly be a lot of fun because Peyton (Woodyard), one of my closest friends, will be there.
