Tuesday afternoon saw the release of the updated 2025 Top247 player rankings, and several Alabama commits saw significant increases, including four-star linebacker Myles Johnson (Brewton, AL).
Johnson was not ranked before, and now he is ranked No. 182 nationally. Running back and receiver are also ranked first in Alabama’s top class.
ALTA CUSCALOOSA, AL Alabama is ranked eighth in the College Football Playoff rankings, which were made public on ESPN on Tuesday, for the fourth week in a row.
After crushing Chattanooga 66-10 last Saturday, the Crimson Tide improved to 10-1 overall. However, they are still behind the same seven teams that topped the previous three College Football Playoff rankings.
After stifling Tennessee 38–10, Georgia maintained its top ranking, followed by Ohio State and Michigan in second and third place. The 11-0 Buckeyes and Wolverines will square off this Saturday at 11 a.m. CT (FOX). The poll will probably be adjusted as a result of the outcome before conference championship weekend.
This week, there was a minor shift in the rankings after the top three, with Washington rising to No. 4 and Florida State falling to No. 5. In Corvallis, Washington defeated Oregon State last Saturday, 22–20.
Texas came in at number seven, and Oregon remained at number six. In Week 2, the Longhorns defeated Alabama 34–24 in Tuscaloosa.
The Crimson Tide defeated three teams ranked in the top 25: No. 21 Tennessee, No. 14 LSU, and No. 12 Ole Miss, 34-20, 42-28, and 24-10. The SEC Championship game, which takes place at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta on December 2 at 3 p.m. CT (CBS), will give them a chance to face the top-ranked Bulldogs.
However, Alabama (10-1, 7-0) and Auburn (6-5, 3-4) meet this weekend at Jordan-Hare.
In their last game before Thanksgiving break, Auburn dominated Alabama A&M, leading by 34 points at halftime and winning 84-54.
With 15 points, Chaney Johnson led the Tigers – he had previously scored four points, his season high, against Southeastern Louisiana and Notre Dame. Johnson was joined in double figures by Johni Broome, Aden Holloway, and Jaylin Williams.
Despite shooting 47.3 percent from the field, the Tigers only made six of their 24 3-point attempts, a season-low 25 percent of their total 3-point attempts. Auburn made 26 of its 36 attempted free throws, or 72.2 percent of their total. Holloway was the only Tiger to make multiple 3-pointers; he was just 2 of 7 from beyond the arc.
