Now that TWR is back, its first project is a restomod Jaguar XJS, which was made with assistance from designers Khyzyl Saleem and Magnus Walker.
Founded by the late Tom Walkinshaw in 1976, TWR grew to become a major force in motorsport worldwide. Nevertheless, after making an expensive investment in the Arrows Formula One team, it went into administration in 2002.
Under the leadership of Fergus, the son of Tom Walkinshaw, TWR has repositioned itself as a “builder of customized cars.” The company intends to collaborate with different automakers and makes the pledge to “protect and perfect the analogue driving experience.”
The first Tom Walkinshaw Racing, situated in Oxfordshire, had a close relationship with Jaguar and prepared an XJS for the European Touring Car Championship.
Later, TWR and Jaguar worked together to create the XJR series of prototype racers for sports cars. Among them was the 1988 24 Hours of Le Mans winner, the XJR-9LM.
The business collaborated with Volvo to produce the infamous 850 Estate, a British Touring Car Championship competitor. Moreover, TWR’s engineering teams developed a number of road cars, such as the Aston Martin DB7 and Jaguar XJ220.
The XJS was selected as the organization’s first project to be “brought into the 21st century” because of its unique position in TWR history.

This is the first project Saleem has worked on where he isn’t just designing a bodykit but also building a complete, performance-driven vehicle. “It’s moving away from the digital space, where I’m known, and giving my work actual credibility.”
Early in 2024, more information regarding the new TWR Jaguar XJS will become available. It will intrigue us to see it
