As the Aston Villa side prepares for an international break, the first four games have revealed fans to be either glass half full or glass half empty supporters. Here are five reasons to be glad for individuals who are feeling discouraged and pessimistic:

Villa is in ninth place after four games, having won two and lost two. The two victories came against opponents who offered little challenge to a good Villa team, while the two losses came against opponents that offered little resistance to Villa.

St James’ Park and Anfield away are two of the toughest matchups on the calendar, even without considering Villa’s dismal record at both venues. Nonetheless, both performances lacked the elegance that Emery fans have come to like and anticipate. Sloppy early goals and obvious chances squandered; this was not the Villa fans saw in the second half of last season.

So, why be optimistic? Consider that Villa earned three points from four games last season against Bournemouth, Everton, Palace, and West Ham (who were at the bottom of the table at the time). Villa went on to have a terrible first third of the season under Steven Gerrard but still finished with 61 points after Emery arrived. This indicates Villa does not

The forthcoming league games against Palace, Chelsea, and Brighton will provide us with a much better picture of Villa’s position this season. Villa are currently level after four games; let’s see where the next four lead them.

The group stage draw was a fascinating event to be a part of. Villa hasn’t competed in a group stage of a European competition in much too long, even if it is in the third tier.

Villa are presently the favorites in the competition, but that might change after teams are eliminated from the Europa League.
