In light of impending expansion threats, the Melbourne Storm have made a significant move to secure the Sunshine Coast Falcons’ support going forward.
The Storm have long been associated with the Sunshine Coast Falcons, and they have now taken the initiative to open a brand-new, comprehensive pathway for gifted athletes in the area.
The Sunshine Coast Falcons and Southeast Queensland will serve as the juniors’ elite pathway to the NRL, according to the club.
Over the years, Queensland has produced an abundance of talented athletes, including three of the Storm’s biggest stars in Billy Slater, Cooper Cronk, and Cameron Smith.
Cameron Munster is a Queenslander who plays for the current squad.
Tim Glasby, a former Storm player and current club head of pathways, said in a statement, “We’ve been in partnership with the Sunshine Coast Falcons since 2014 and this is another avenue in which we can increase our footprint in the Sunshine Coast region.”
As non-selected NRL listed players have historically returned to the Q-Cup competition, the model has a good rapport with the Club.
