Although it seems impossible, Kieran Hudson, who joined Jck Sinafield at Leeds for the 2023 Super League season, opens the door for the grandson of John Holmes and SinfieldKevin to play together on the Leeds Rhinos.
Unlike most goalkeepers, the former Sunderland player switched to rugby league later in his career and quickly made his way to the Castleford Tigers. The 23-year-old prop became the Rhinos’ newest addition for the 2024–2025 season, following the signing of several players from Super League rivals, including Andy Ackers, Mickael Goudemand, and Brodie Croft.
This information was made public in an attempt to allay some Leeds supporters’ worries.
This has left fans questioning where the squad depth is within the Rhinos spine with Luke Hooley having already left to join Castleford Tigers and his former Batley Bulldogs boss Craig Lingard. Thus, some fans now expect the Rhinos to make a move to replace Myler in the transfer market.
However, Serious About Rugby League understands that is not the case. Though the Rhinos are likely to return to the transfer market after the departure of Myler, it is more likely that Leeds move for a prop to add depth to their squad.
This is because the club are happy with their options at fullback with Rohan Smith backing youngsters Alfie Edgell and Riley Lumb whilst Ash Handley is viewed as a legitimate option to cover at fullback. This makes keeping Derrell Olpherts all the more important after he turned down a move to Leigh Leopards recently.
