Wilfred Ndidi will not play for Leicester City on Friday night when they play Leeds United.

This is in line with manager Enzo Maresca’s prediction that Ndidi will be out for “a few weeks,” which he made public before to their trip to Queens Park Rangers last weekend.

Ndidi was originally ruled out of last week’s 1-0 victory over Sunderland due to “muscle tightness,” but it now looks like the injury is more serious, according to Leicestershire Live.

Before missing the last two games, the 26-year-old was a revelation in the midfield, recording three assists in four games as Leicester thrashed Blackburn Rovers, Preston North End, and Stoke City.

After being relegated to the Premier League, Leicester was fortunate to retain a large portion of their squad, unlike Leeds, and Ndidi was one of the players who surprise stayed with the team.

However, manager Maresca anticipates that one of the Foxes’ main midfield players will be absent for a few weeks, thus it appears like the team will play Leeds without him.

“Wilf is the only one; it appears to be a little more than the tightness we initially believed,” he stated. Most likely, he must spend a few days or weeks away. Although it’s a muscular issue, it’s not a major one. We believed it to be unimportant. It’s not a huge deal, but he will be absent for a few days or weeks at least.

Ndidi is a big name to have out for Leicester, and Brendan Rodgers called him “incredible” back in 2019. However, Leicester has the strongest squad depth in the league, so they will have a replacement ready for him.

Cesare Casadei, a player the Chelsea Blues spent a significant quantity of money for in the summer of 2022, has been starting in his place throughout the previous two games while he has been out.
