Trevoh Chalobah, a Nottingham Forest target, is rumoured to desire to join German heavyweights Bayern Munich if he leaves Chelsea this summer.
The Reds are rumoured to have made a £25 million proposal for the central defender, with Forest hoping to sign another defender before the transfer market closes at 11 p.m. tonight.
Despite the bid, Fabrizio Romano, the 24-year-old’s agent, has stated that he would only join the Bundesliga club if he left Stamford Bridge.
Chalobah’s current contract expires in five years, and Mauricio Pochettino’s side are in no rush to offload the Cobham academy graduate.
At this point, the Chalobah transaction appears to be problematic.
The 24-year-old has struggled to get regular first-team minutes. He’s been at the bottom of the pecking order in recent seasons, and Pochettino’s arrival hasn’t improved his chances of getting regular playing time.
A deal for Chalobah could happen before the transfer market closes tonight, but a move to the City Ground appears doubtful.
Steve Cooper’s side has made a £25 million approach for the defender, but it may fall short of Chelsea’s valuation, and they may need to come back with a stronger offer for the Blues to accept.
Despite his uncertainty over a move, Chalobah fits Cooper’s criteria of a centre-back with pace and superb ball-playing talents.
He would be a terrific addition for the Reds, but any move for Chalobah currently appears implausible.
