West Bromwich Albion’s Carlton Palmer thinks the team can make it to the Premier League, but only if they can force a takeover before January.

Now ranked sixth in the Championship, the Baggies are deftly punching above their weight. Nevertheless, with only eight points separating Leeds United in third place and Huddersfield Town in twenty-one, the division is as close as it has ever been.

The pitch and staying in contact with those pursuing promotions remain the major priorities despite an impending takeover. After falling to the second division in 2021, the West Midlands club will subtly aim to return to the Premier League; however, former WBA player Carlton Palmer thinks a deal must be done this year in order to have any chance of accomplishing that objective;

The former England international told Football League World, “West Bromwich Albion have had a solid start to the new season, currently sat in sixth place, only two points off Leeds United in third place.”

“The club’s chances of promotion would be greatly increased if the takeover could be finalized in time for the January transfer window.

“I still believe that Leeds and Leicester will advance automatically, but they would have as good of a chance as anyone who secures a play-off spot if they are able to bolster their squad in January and we all know how much of a lottery the play-offs can be.”
