The German, who took over for Xisco Munoz earlier this month, has been tasked with the enormous responsibility of attempting to maintain the Owls in the Championship past this season.

The Yorkshire team has lost all 13 of its first 13 games and is currently bottom of the second division standings.

In his two games in command at Hillsborough since taking over, Rohl has lost by an overall score of 4-0 to Watford and Plymouth Argyle.

Even though the 34-year-old’s start hasn’t been the best, the squad still has 33 games left to salvage its season.

No matter how bad the team performs, Carlton Palmer thinks the Hillsborough crowd will always support them.

He is skeptical that Wednesday can stay in the league, though, and thinks that a loss against Rotherham will almost guarantee their relegation at this early point in the season.

Palmer told Football League World, “The Hillsborough supporters will always be the 12th man for Sheffield Wednesday at home.”

“For Sheffield Wednesday, this game is just a must-win at this point in the season.

“At this early stage in the season, I consider them relegated whether they lose or draw.

“A victory would reduce the difference between them and Rotherham to three points, but it would still mean that Rotherham would have a game in hand.

After 13 games, the Owls are currently 11 points from safety.

“If they succeed, this would be a significant turnaround, and I just don’t see it happening.”

After just 13 games, both teams have pulled ahead of the Owls by 13 and 12 points, respectively, and the distance to safety is currently 11 points.

Wednesday has only accrued three points and has lost all of its league games since being promoted from League One the previous season.

Previous football coaching experience for Rohl included working with players like Ralph Hasenhuttl and Hansi Flick.

He is hoping to pursue a career in management on his own, therefore this is his first time leading a team as head coach.

This Saturday, October 29, at Hillsborough, when the Owls play relegation rivals Rotherham, he will be looking for his first win.

Zero wins from 13 games is historically bad, and there are few signs of improvement at the moment.

A 3-0 loss to rivals Plymouth only highlights just how much work is needed to turn things around for Wednesday.

Failure to beat Rotherham would really put the club down in the dumps, and it is hard to see how they could avoid relegation if they make it zero wins from 14 on Sunday.

13 games without a win is a historically poor record, and there are currently few indications of progress.

A 3-0 loss to rivals Plymouth only serves to emphasize how much work remains before Wednesday’s game can be salvaged.

The team would be in serious trouble if they lost against Rotherham, and it is difficult to see how they might escape relegation if they end up with zero victories from 14 games on Sunday.
