The newest Nottingham Forest news is that the midfielder has sustained an injury that will keep him out for several months.
Lewis O’Brien of Nottingham Forest has updated his social media following surgery for an injury sustained while on loan.
The 24-year-old was injured while playing for Middlesbrough on loan against Watford in the Championship earlier this month. After returning from a loan spell with DC United, he signed a season-long loan agreement with the Teesside club.
Boro manager Michael Carrick announced last week that the midfielder will be seeing doctors and surgeons about the issue. O’Brien has since stated that he underwent successful surgery to correct the condition this week.

O’Brien said on social media, “Surgery done. Thank you for the wonderful medical staff and all of your love and support. “Here’s to healing and getting stronger.”
Since joining Middlesbrough on loan, O’Brien has made five Championship appearances. Due to injuries at his loan club, he was drafted in as an emergency left-back for his last two games.
The player joined Forest from Huddersfield in the summer of 2022, although he had little influence during his time in the Premier League. He was on the verge of joining Blackburn on loan in January, but the agreement fell through at the last minute, forcing him to join DC United in March, then managed by Wayne Rooney.
“Lewis will be out for some time.” “It could be two to three months, which is unfortunate,” he told TeesideLive. “He’ll see a surgeon at the beginning of next week.” Hopefully, after the operation, he’ll be able to return to us and rehab and recuperate as soon as possible.
“He’s a fantastic lad and character who will do everything he can to get fit as soon as possible.” I’m incredibly unhappy for him because he’s fit in so well, and it’s a tremendous blow for both us and Lewis. We’ll work with him to bring him back as soon as possible.
