Dele Alli, a star for Everton, disclosed that he had experienced a new injury setback but promised to bounce back even stronger.
Alli opted to move to Everton in January 2022 after his time with Tottenham Hotspur came to an end.
The 27-year-old, however, struggled to recapture his greatest form of play while playing for the Toffees and spent the most of the 22–23 season on loan at Besiktas of the Turkish Super Lig.
After suffering a season-ending injury that ended his time with the Turkish team, Alli’s time there was cut short, and he has since been fighting to go back to Everton.
Alli has now disclosed that he has experienced a new injury setback, but he has pledged to come back stronger than before.
The midfielder said on social media, “Setback with the injury, but making sure I come stronger than ever!”
Alli opened up about his mental health issues in an emotional chat with Gary Neville on The Overlap earlier this year.
“I was in a bad cycle,” Alli said. I was putting my trust in things that were hurting me. Every day I was winning the fight and went into training with a smile on my face, ready to display my happiness.
“I was fighting a losing war within, and it was time for a change. I had the same emotions I did at the start of the cycle when I was informed that I required surgery.
Alli also mentioned how helpful Everton manager Sean Dyche has been.
He reportedly stated to Dyche, according to the Daily Mail, “Me and (Dyche) have had some excellent chats, not so much about football at this stage since obviously I’m still injured, but about where I’m at.
“And I’d like to say a big thanks to him as well – I think for someone that didn’t really know me, for this to be thrown on him, and to be so understanding and not even just understanding, we had a good conversation and, like I said, he was supportive.”
In an effort to demonstrate their support for midfielder Dele Alli, Everton supporters have unveiled a stylish banner.
Alli has struggled in recent years to recapture the kind of play he shown during his formative years at Tottenham Hotspur.
In an effort to revive his career, Alli transferred to Everton in January 2022.
He failed to secure a starting position, though, and spent the 22–23 season on loan at Besiktas in the Turkish Super Lig.
Prior to the new season, Alli participated in a very emotional interview with former Manchester United player Gary Neville in which he discussed his upbringing and the challenges he encountered.
During his conversation with Neville, Alli was very candid about his struggles with mental health.
“Like one morning I woke up,” he remarked. Alli recalled, “I remember simply gazing in the mirror. He [Mourinho] had stopped playing me because I had to go to training. Although it seems dramatic, I was actually simply looking in the mirror and pondering whether I could retire at the age of 24.
“Oh yeah, doing what I love. That broke my heart, for me.
Following the interview, Everton supporters supported Alli by revealing a new banner on Saturday during their opening Premier League game against Fulham.
“We are with you Dele,” the banner declared. “Together we are stronger.”
Prior to the start of the new season, Everton manager Sean Dyche discussed Alli.
He declared: “He hasn’t fully recovered from his injuries. He is well, although he has not fully recovered from his injuries.
“We are far from that [concerning his position on the squad], he is simply getting himself back in order. He is feeling fantastic, and we will now work with him to make sure the injury is correct on top of that. However, it will still take some time.
Everton loses. Dele Alli said in a sincere statement that his “season has come to an end” following surgery for a hip injury he sustained while playing for Besiktas.
The 27-year-old offensive midfielder failed to make an impression during his first six months at Everton and was loaned out to Turkish club Besiktas last summer.
Alli, though, was forced to compete for playing time at Besiktas this season and struggled to recapture his electrifying Spurs form during his disastrous stint in the Super Lig.
Senol Gunes, the manager of Besiktas, openly insulted the former Spurs and MK Dons player despite Alli’s three goals in 15 matches for the team.
