The Dallas Cowboys offense has started the 2023 season off well under Tony Pollard. In the divisional playoff loss to the San Francisco 49ers a year ago, Pollard suffered a horrific leg injury. Since then, he has rehabilitated and confirmed his status as a key player in the Dallas offense to begin 2023.
Steve Wilks, the defensive coordinator for the 49ers, recently discussed what he has observed from Tony Pollard so far in 2023 following the injury.
According to Wilks, “To be quite honest, I can’t even tell he had an injury,” wrote Calvin Watkins of the Dallas Morning News. “Look at how proficiently he runs the ball. He does indeed appear explosive, and he is acting positively. He is able to run in between tackles and go the distance.
When the Cowboys come back to play the 49ers in Week 5, Pollard must be at least as good as before. The only two unbeaten teams in the NFC right now are the San Francisco 49ers and the Philadelphia Eagles, with Dallas coming in right behind them at 3-1.
After losing to the Dallas Cowboys 38-3, the injury bug is still ravaging the New England Patriots, so when it rains, it pours for them. After missing several offensive line starters to start the season, they lost star edge rusher Matthew Judon and cornerback Christian Gonzalez to bicep and labrum tears, respectively.
Judon’s return to the field for the Patriots this season hasn’t been fully ruled out, unlike Gonzalez’s injury, as the schedule won’t be established until after his surgery. Even though the 31-year-old will be sidelined for at least the near future, the Patriots could still look for assistance, just as they did at cornerback when they acquired J.C. Jackson in a trade.
