Josh Ginnelly will be sidelined for the remainder of the season, according to Michael Duff, the manager of Swansea City. The 26-year-old was forced off with an Achilles injury during Swansea’s 3-0 victory against Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday and is now anticipated to miss the rest of the season.

It’s a terrible news for Duff, who also disclosed that Joe Allen and Nathan Wood are both expected to miss significant amounts of time due to surgery for their individual problems.

It hasn’t been a good week for those injuries, according to Duff. “Woody will require ankle surgery, so three months are expected. Joe Allen, who was around at the same time, underwent groin surgery.

Josh Ginnelly will miss the remainder of the campaign. With the language he was using at the time, we didn’t think it was fantastic that he had a complete rupture of his Achilles. But given how football is, Liam Walsh and Kyle Naughton have both rejoined the group. Therefore, they come after the negatives.

Football being football, there is always a chance for someone to in and seize the moment. Being three major players with three long-term ailments is not terrific. For this reason, you have a squad. We brought so many in during the summer because of this.

“We have faith in every player. Joe will still be necessary at this point. Woody is a young player, so we’ll be working with him one-on-one a lot. You can continue to work with him, mentor him, and do one-on-one sessions.

“Gino, we’ve just caught up with him. The change in shape benefitted him because he appeared dangerous. We can pass the ball to him, go one-on-one with him, and do that little bit. However, it presents a chance for someone else to enter and steal their shirt.

“They will receive the same treatment. Not only do we speak to you if you are on the team, but if you are not, we don’t.

We can benefit from Joe’s experience and assist him in pursuing his future goals. We can offer him a taste of what it’s like, whether he decides to enter coaching or not.

“It’s disappointing, but hey, it’s football.”

Who will replace Ginnelly, who has arguably been one of Duff’s better players in the last several games, is yet unknown.

Jamal [Lowe] ventured outside. He is able to play on any of the front three. Then you might need to come up with an alternative approach.

Allen suffered yet another setback from an injury after pulling up during warm-up before Cardiff City’s victory in the South Wales derby. The former Wales international, according to Duff, still has a significant role to play this year.

“We think he’s a big player,” Duff continued. “He needed to make a choice. He could have treated it conservatively, but it might have taken four or five weeks before it went away again and he would have needed surgery.

“He is aware that he hasn’t performed to his potential. Hopefully, this will put an end to those frustrating 18 months, restore his full fitness, and allow him to go forward.
