An inquest has heard that the two persons who died on Christmas Day when a car plunged into a river had been out for celebratory drinks before the accident. near the early hours of December 25 of last year, emergency services received reports of a vehicle entering the River Tawe near Swansea. The remains of Jay Kyle Jenkins and Rachel Curtis, both 36, were later discovered.

Emergency services were summoned at around 3.05am on Christmas Day in response to reports that a BMW Mini coupe had into the River Tawe after traveling down the A483 New Cut Road. Their remains were later discovered close by. The car, which was being driven by Miss Curtis, had crashed with a pedestrian barrier before hitting the water after she made a sharp right left toward Pentreguinea Road, according to an inquest into their deaths held at Swansea’s Guildhall.

The inquest learned that earlier that evening, when Miss Curtis concluded her shift at The Coach House, she and Mr. Jenkins met in Wind Street in Swansea’s downtown area and shared Christmas drinks with two other friends. They then went to Bank Statement, where a witness allegedly saw Miss Curtis drinking a huge glass of rose, and Jack Murphys before leaving at around 2.30am, according to the inquiry. Miss Curtis had parked her automobile on The Strand, so Miss Curtis and Mr. Jenkins took a stroll there, got in, and started heading north toward New Cut Road when they were involved in an accident.
