Jenas recalls Aurier’s time at Tottenham as erratic, but now believes he is succeeding after being appointed Forest captain on Sunday.
“I feel like he tries to get more out of his players, to keep on improving them,” Jenas remarked. “Serge Aurier is a good example of that, which is why I asked Cooper about him after Sunday’s game.”
“I watched Aurier a lot at Tottenham, where things didn’t work out for him for whatever reason, and he looks like a completely different person at Forest.” Cooper has appointed him captain, and sometimes when you give guys responsibilities, they become leaders.
Since Kyle Walker’s departure, Tottenham’s right back has been chopped and altered.
Aurier was intended to be the key replacement for Kyle Walker once he left Manchester City in 2017.
After signing from Paris Saint-Germain, the 30-year-old showed flashes of brilliance but never lived up to expectations.
Aurier was a teammate of Kieran Trippier before being traded to Atletico Madrid; he now plays for Newcastle United in the Premier League.

Aurier struggled for the majority of his Tottenham career, but he finally appears to have found a true home at the club.
