Bradley is currently recuperating from an injury suffered against Reading.
Luton Town manager Rob Edwards has stated that club captain Sonny Bradley will be sidelined until the new year after suffering a knee injury in the goalless draw with Reading on November 1.
After going up for an aerial challenge, the 31-year-old fell awkwardly on his right leg and was quickly stretchered off, with TV video revealing exactly how serious the injury could have been for the centre half, who has only made 12 appearances this season.
Although Bradley claimed that there was no ligament damage or a break, prior manager Nathan Jones said that examinations indicated the skipper had suffered a minor knee fracture.
He has now moved on to Southampton, with Edwards named as his replacement during the World Cup break, and when questioned about the defender’s recuperation time, he said: “Sonny’s going to be a little bit longer.”
“When you look at the mechanism and how he did it, it could have been a really serious injury, but luckily, it’s not as bad as it could have been.”
“It’s still an injury where it was very painful and it’s a longer one, so it will probably be into the New Year with Sonny.”
Luton Town have been hit hard by injuries to key players in their defence, with Dan Potts recently breaking his back and Reece Burke out since the 2-0 win over his previous club Hull City on September 30.
In addition to Fred Onyedinma, Henri Lansbury, and Cauley Woodrow, Edwards provided an update, saying, “There’s a couple that are getting closer.”
“Pottsy and Burkey were out on the grass today, but there won’t be too many changes on that front just yet, but hopefully very, very soon.”
“We’re pleased with how they’re progressing, there’s a few of them there that will be available soon.”
