The University of Louisville women’s basketball team is excited to welcome standout forward Laura Ziegler, a skilled and versatile talent set to make an immediate impact in the upcoming season.
Hailing from Denmark, the 6-foot-2 forward brings a wealth of international experience and an impressive collegiate track record to the Cardinals. Ziegler made her mark at Saint Joseph’s University, where she earned All-Atlantic 10 honors and became one of the top forwards in the conference. Known for her grit, basketball intelligence, and two-way effectiveness, she’s expected to bring a competitive edge to Louisville’s frontcourt.
“Laura is a fantastic addition to our program,” said head coach Jeff Walz. “Her skill set, maturity, and leadership will instantly raise the level of our team. Her experience both internationally and at the college level makes her well-prepared to compete in the ACC. We’re thrilled to have her on board and excited to see the impact she’ll make.”
During her junior year, Ziegler averaged 17.5 points and 10.4 rebounds per game, shooting 42.5% from the field. A finalist for the 2024–25 Becky Hammon Mid-Major Player of the Year, she made history at Saint Joseph’s as just the third player to tally 500+ points, 200+ rebounds, and 100+ assists in a single season. She also finished second in the conference in scoring and led the league in rebounds.
Ziegler is a two-time First Team All-Atlantic 10 selection and was named Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Year in her freshman campaign. Beyond the college hardwood, she’s competed at a high level with the Danish national team, participating in multiple European championships and making her presence felt in international play.
“I’m incredibly proud and excited to join Louisville,” Ziegler said. “The tradition, the fan support, and the chance to play in the ACC made this decision a no-brainer. I’m eager to get started with my new teammates and coaches and give everything I have to help this program win.”
Ziegler’s arrival adds to the Cardinals’ momentum as they continue to build a roster capable of contending for a national title, solidifying their place among the elite programs in women’s college basketball.
