Walker Buehler delivered a dominant performance on Patriots’ Day, allowing just one run and striking out nine over seven innings to lead the Boston Red Sox to a 4-2 victory over the visiting Chicago White Sox in a rare late-morning matchup.

Buehler (3-1) scattered four hits, walked three, and threw 100 pitches—63 for strikes. He gave up two of those hits and his only run in the first inning. Justin Slaten closed things out with a scoreless ninth for his third save of the season.

Rob Refsnyder hit his first home run of the year for Boston, while Trevor Story went 3-for-4, and Kristian Campbell chipped in with two hits, including a two-run single.

Andrew Benintendi accounted for most of Chicago’s offense, going 2-for-4 with a solo homer—his fourth of the season—and a first-inning single. Brooks Baldwin added a double, the White Sox’s only other extra-base hit.

Boston took three of four in the series, improving their record while Chicago fell to a dismal 1-9 on the road.

Jonathan Cannon (0-3) took the loss for Chicago, allowing four runs on six hits across six innings, with four walks and four strikeouts.

The White Sox struck first when Nick Maton singled, moved to third on Benintendi’s base hit, and scored on Edgar Quero’s groundout for a 1-0 lead.

Refsnyder evened the score with a solo shot in the second, and Boston broke it open with a three-run third. Jarren Duran doubled and scored on a Story single before Campbell drove in two more with a base hit.

Benintendi, a former Red Sox player, added a solo homer off Aroldis Chapman in the eighth—just the sixth long ball Chapman has ever allowed to a left-handed hitter.

Chicago struggled mightily with runners in scoring position, going 0-for-10. Boston finishes the season series having won four of the seven matchups.
