_FORMER PGMOL CHIEF SLAMS REFEREEING DECISIONS IN ASTON VILLA VS JUVENTUS CLASH_

Former PGMOL (Professional Game Match Officials Limited) chief Keith Hackett has strongly criticized the refereeing decisions made during the recent match between Aston Villa and Juventus.

Hackett, who served as the general manager of PGMOL from 2004 to 2010, was reacting to footage of the game, which showed several contentious incidents involving the referees.

“Disgrace” was the blunt assessment of Hackett, who expressed his disappointment and frustration with the standard of refereeing on display.

“The officials got it badly wrong on several occasions,” Hackett said. “The lack of consistency and accuracy in their decision-making was alarming. It’s simply not good enough at this level of the game.”

Hackett specifically highlighted two incidents that he felt demonstrated the referees’ inadequacies.

“The first incident involved a clear foul on an Aston Villa player, which was ignored by the referee,” Hackett explained. “The second incident saw a Juventus player commit a blatant handball, which was also missed by the officials.”

Hackett emphasized that these mistakes were not only frustrating for the players and coaches but also damaging to the integrity of the game.
