Play was stopped for ten minutes when Worrall went down in the first half, before his replacement was forced off after the break.

Worrall had to leave the pitch on a stretcher at the Racecourse Ground following a clash of heads.

Medical staff quickly arrived to give the 33-year-old treatment, resulting in play being stopped in the 11th minute.

He was eventually replaced by Stephenson, as fans and players inside the stadium applauded the ex-Millwall midfielder

Commenting on the injury, Barrow posted on X: “Stoppage in the game.

“Wrexham plays a deep ball to the back post where David Worrall gets up bravely to head it away, but after a clash of heads, he looks in great discomfort and is down. We hope you’re OK David.

Hollywood legend Ryan Reynolds – Wrexham’s co-owner – was quick to offer his support to the stricken star.

He stated, ‘Hoping David Worrall is okay,’ while also posting two prayer emojis

Following the 4-1 victory, Reynolds then said: “Great start to ‘24 for Wexham … Hoping Barrow players, David Worrall and Luca Stephenson are okay. Scary few min (sic) there.”

n what was a chaotic first half, Barrow took the lead after just 33 seconds and were leading 1-0 at the time of Worrall’s injury.

And Wrexham made the most of the added time, as they scored three times to go into the break 3-1 up.

Former Sunderland and Marseille striker Steven Fletcher was on hand to fire in a double.

Meanwhile goal machine Paul Mullin was also on target to bring his tally to 11 for the season in all competitions.
