The Magpies’ manager has provided an update on the injury situation ahead of their travel to Bramall Lane to face Sheffield United.

Eddie Howe will be missing Joelinton again this weekend at Bramall Lane, but the Brazilian hopes to be back before the next set of international matches.

However, Howe does not anticipate Joe Willock to return for the next round of games before the October break. The good news for Howe was that no new injuries were sustained, however Alexander Isak has a long-standing knee ailment that the club is monitoring on a daily basis.

“We’re still missing the two Joes in midfield,” Howe stated at a press conference prior of the Blades game. Apart from that, we’re doing quite well.”

Joelinton missed the Champions League’s comeback and the glamorous group game in Milan, but Howe stated, “We hope with Joelinton he can be back sooner.” He’ll be sidelined until the international break with Willock.”

Callum Wilson was also a substitute at Milan, but his playing time has not altered.

“With Callum, we always have to manage his load,” Howe explained. That is not the case with Callum. We have to monitor his training whether it’s a one-game week or a three-game week to give ourselves the best possibility of him continuing with us throughout the season. So that’s what we’re going to do.”
