Lyle Taylor goes on trial for Sheffield Wednesday.
On Tuesday night, the former Nottingham Forest attacker was sighted in the stands, and Munoz confirmed that Taylor is on trial with the club in the hopes of securing a contract.
The striker, 33, has been a free agent since the beginning of the summer when Steve Cooper chose to release him after his contract at the City Ground ended.
Taylor was a regular for Forest, but when Cooper was named manager, the striker quickly lost his spot and became surplus to needs.
He did not leave the City Ground last season, either permanently or on loan, therefore he spent the whole season on the bench, not making a single competitive appearance.
As a result, it was no surprise that he was permitted to go this summer, and it now appears that he may be poised for a new challenge.
Taylor will join a team that currently includes Lee Gregory, Michael Smith, Callum Paterson, and Ashley Fletcher, as well as Mallik Wilks and Josh Windass.
However, the team has been suffering in front of goal, and it appears Munoz is eager to bring in new players.

“Lyle Taylor was spotted in the stands at Hillsborough on Tuesday night when Sheffield Wednesday faced Middlesbrough,” he informed FLW.
“He’s been training with the Owls with the intention of signing a permanent contract.” He’s 33 years old and has been around for a while; at Championship level, he’s made 93 appearances and scored 23 goals, so he’s not exactly prolific.
“The Owls need a striker who can deliver goals, and from the stats, Lyle Taylor does not appear to be the answer. Also, with the way the Owls are playing, any centre forward will struggle to register any decent numbers.”
“The striker is frequently isolated by the way Wednesday is playing right now; they have Gregory and Smith on the bench, both of whom can score goals at this level.”
Would Sheffield Wednesday benefit from signing Lyle Taylor?
There is no doubt that Sheffield Wednesday needed to improve their attacking line during the summer.
They added Fletcher, but they still appear to be too light and are battling for goals in the league. So it’s not surprising that the team is considering the free agent market; the only question is whether Taylor is talented enough for this level.
As Palmer points out, the forward has done it before but has never been prolific, and there is no use in Wednesday adding another body just for the sake of it. They need a player to come in and make an impact, and it’s questionable if Taylor will do so considering how long he’s been out.
